Because of the way veneers are attached to the tooth, they are completely permanent. If they break or fall off, they will need to be replaced. For most people, this is great news! If you’re worried about the cost of replacing or maintaining them, however, it may be worth talking it over with our dentist.

Here’s why veneers are permanent:

• Before we take molds of your teeth to fit your veneers, we will remove a layer of enamel. Enamel does not regenerate, so without the protection of the veneers, your teeth will be more sensitive and vulnerable to injury and decay.
• When your permanent veneers are ready, we will use a bonding agent on the tooth’s surface before applying the dental cement.
• Each shell is individually affixed to the tooth over the cement, then cured with UV light.
• After each shell is placed, we will floss around the tooth and clean up any stray bonding material.
• We repeat this process for as many teeth as there are veneers!
